I love the colour choices made with the J’Ouvert piece especially. Very captivating, and has a dynamic… almost kinaesthetic feeling to it.
Really nice work overall! Any of these would be a wonderful addition to a space- however it is displayed.
Influenced by Caribbean concepts as a means of working beyond the perceived traditional constraints. The Artist practice aims to straddle the boundaries between traditional versus contemporary, personal versus impersonal, reality versus imaginary and failure versus success in order to explore the dichotomies and contradictions at play when considering both the cultural and practical uses of the portraits. These genres which allow for a plethora of different readings as both a form of identification and as a potent medium for exploring notions of identity and selfhood, within an arts context are simply sublime and culturally refreshing.

The medley of colour and richness of the pieces are truly reflective of the Artist’s background. I love how she is able to not only incorporate her culture but also reflect the strength of womanhood into her work. Can’t wait to see more as she explores new ways of incorporating more of herself and experiences in her pieces.
